Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is all about having the right terms and words in place to bring your website into the top results when someone types into the search engine's search bar. For example, if you own a discount shoe store, you want people to be able to find your website when they enter discount shoes. There will be other words that should bring your website into search results too. However, it isn't enough to have these keywords placed haphazardly on your site. Search engines are getting smarter by the day; they look to make sure that you are not over-using the words and that the site has a reason to be using the words. If you are misusing words, your site will be listed way back in the search engine results, meaning that people are not going to be seeing it unless they put your web address into the search bar.

Readability

Unfortunately, not everyone is as informed about your business as you are. While customers need your services, they may not be familiar with all the terms and services you offer. If someone goes to your website after searching for general terms that apply to your business, he or she needs to be able to read what you have on the site without using a dictionary. Explain everything in simple terms. It is also important to make sure everything is grammatically correct or you will lose some credibility.

If the website has tabs and pages for customers to click, make sure they work properly. If you have a tab for your products, make sure that is what the customer will see when the tab is clicked. If you have a section for reviews or comments on your business, be sure to check them daily and reply if necessary.

Make sure that it properly demonstrates the type of business you are running and a bit about how you run it. It is not all about the flashing lights, music, and fancy colors.
